RAT CONFERENCE 2000-- PROVIDENCE RI               PROPOSAL

I wrote this for a grant that I never received.  Feel free to distort it in
anyway you see fit.

WHAT IS THE RAT CONFERENCE

The RAT conference is an  informal community of theatre artists who convene
online (www.ratconference.com)

RAT which can mean (among other things) Regional Alternative Theatre,
Radical Alternative Theatre, or Room and Transportation, is typified by
smaller underground and alternative theatres that are typically not Equity,
not LORT, and appeal to a younger, hip  crowd.

Approximately once a year, the RAT conference meets in a city for an
informal face-to-face gathering to exchange ideas, create solutions,
network, and celebrate the joys and heartaches of working in the alternative
theatre.

Previous RAT Conference cities include New York, Los Angeles, Des Moines
Iowa, San Francisco, and Austin TX.

The RAT conference is not an organization, an institution, or an organized
event.  There is no RAT membership or RAT organization or RAT dues.  Anyone
that wants to be a part of the RAT conference is welcome.  All events will
be free and open to the public.
