Chris, "Girl Under Grain" is a fabulous piece.  I'm in entirely the wrong city to see it, but I wish you well with the production.

PLAY: GIRL UNDER GRAIN

DESCRIPTION: The west coast premiere of a Dust Bowl love story inspired by
the Book of Ruth. 

WINNER: Best Drama - 2000 New York International Fringe Festival .


Girl Under Grain received a commission from the National Foundation for
Jewish Culture and a Drama League New Directors/New Works Grant, and was
also funded by a Jerome Fellowship at the Minneapolis Playwrights Center.
Its award-winning run in the 2000 Fringe Festival (produced by the Drama
League) was extended by Page 73 Productions. Girl Under Grain was featured
in readings in the ASK New Plays Festival, the Bay Area Playwrights Festival
and the Streisand Festival, as well as at New York Theatre Workshop and
Baltimore's Center Stage.

Karen Hartman currently holds the Hodder Fellowship at Princeton University.
Los Angeles credits include Gum and The Mother of Modern Censorship (Circle
X) Blessings and Curses (with Malashock Dance & Company, Yiddishkayt
Festival and tour), and work with A.S.K. Theater Projects. Other recent
productions: Gum (Women's Project & Productions, Center Stage, the Magic
Theater, Page 73), Girl Under Grain (Best Drama in the New York
International Fringe Festival, Drama League and Page 73 Productions), ALICE:
Tales of a Curious Girl (AT&T Onstage Award, Dallas Theater Center, Thick
Description), Troy Women ( Yale Repertory Theater/Yale School of Drama, dir.
Laura Stribling), and a play for children, ALICE'S WILD RIDE: The True Story
of a Pioneer on Wheels (La Jolla Playhouse). She is a member of New
Dramatists.
